Words :
My name is Francois, and I was born in 1976. I crew among long shaped instrument, with one or even two keyboards. Differently from other kids, the harpsichord took for me the place of the piano. I didn't think about it as an instrument similar to the piano: on the contrary this one was the uncommun instrument. I tell you those things, to let you understand how much the harpsichord has been present in my life, since my early years.
My father Giuseppe Ciocca has been working for twenty years as workshop master at Dowd-VonNagel atelier in Paris. You understand, now, why i do this beautiful craft, and from whom i learned it.
In 1996 I registred at the nomce board of the craftsmen, and I opened my harpsichord workshop in my little town of origin, Riccia, near Campobasso (Molise).
I learned the handmade way of working wood, without using modern precision machineries, like the craftsmen of the past. Every instrument become unique, because the hand of the man doesn't shape the wood with identical result, as the machineries do.
But before handmade construction, technical skill, rispect for antique way of working and selection of the material, there is the great passion for this art; in fact, i make you sure that in every instruments of mine there is a part of me.
